  • Ran the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District, responsible for senior centers, public transit, job training, transportation planning, meals on wheels, and other federal and state programs;
  • Worked with state legislators and state agencies to develop and enact a fiscally-sound state budget for then-Governor Bill Clinton;
  • Small Businessman for twenty years, 1962 - 1982, working with an auto parts store that grew to 18 stores, 3 warehouse operations, and 3 machine shop operations.
  • Served 10 years on the Harrison City Council, including eight years as Chair of the Budget Committee;
  • Served 10 years in the US Army Reserves;
  • Military - enlisted as a Private E1 and left the service as a First Lieutenant, through a direct commission by correspondence from the Combat Engineering College at Ft. Belvoir, Maryland, and Company Commander of the Outstanding Company in the 489th Combat Engineering Brigade in the summer of 1972.  Planned, secured 5th Army approval, and implemented a unique training program for the company to perform community development work for the City of Harrison in clearing Crooked Creek of debris after the devastating 1961 Flood.
  • Graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA in Business, with honors;
  • Married to Jo, with 8 children and 17 grandchildren.
